Awkwafina was an American actor and performer who began her career with clever raps that tackled sexuality and racial identities with an edgy, comical perspective. She then expanded into Hollywood. The actress was born Nora Lum to Chinese and Korean immigrants within Forest Hills Queens her first experience with music came through trumpet. The classical, jazz, and hip-hop training began as she was just a teenager. While at school, she studied journalism as well as women's studies at college, even learning Mandarin in Beijing during a brief time. She turned her attention towards music after she completed her degree. Following her viral success through the Internet and her own track My Vag was a reaction to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick. It eventually appeared on the album she released, Yellow Ranger. On the album, there also were viral songs like Queef (body-positive) as well as NYC Bitche$1. The single that debuted was specifically linked to the album Awkwafinas NYC, her 2015 travel guide. After a successful career as a singer, she chose to assume the character of actress. She has appeared in films like Neighbors 2 Storks, and Bad Rap.
